At approximately 10:20am on Monday December 21, 2009, Quint 53 was dispatched on the initial alarm for a reported garage fire in Collegeville Borough. Shortly after dispatch, Chief 34 arrived on location with a garage fully involved and extension into the attached home. Chief 34 established command and immediately requested two more engines from station 53 on the assignment. Quint 53 was the first Lower Providence unit to arrive and was directed to assist in pulling an additional attack line to the "B" side of the residence. After doing so, members were deployed to both the interior of the house and to the roof to begin opening up. Members performed a variety of tasks on the fireground ranging from ventilation and truck company operations to fire attack and salvage and overhaul during the length of the incident. After all tasks were completed, the Lower Providence units were released by 34 Command and made available around 1pm.
