| LPFD gets its first fire of '10 |
Thu. Jan 7th 2010
At 1418hrs, the company was dispatched to Anders Place for the house fire. Lieutenant Murphy, who lives not too far away, immediately reported to Chief McFarland smoke showing from the residence and the assignment was upgraded right away. SD34 was dispatched for the RIT assignment, and also the next engine and ladder were requested (SD46 & L27). Command reported smoke showing from the A side, 1st and 2nd floors upon arrival. QT53 was first on scene, established a water source, and crews went into service. Interior crews encountered weakening floor conditions on the first floor making it evident that the seat of the fire was located in the basement. Crews did an excellent job locating and extinguishing the fire, as well as preventing further damage to the adjacent townhome units which suffered only residual smoke conditions. The fire was placed under control within a half hour. American Red Cross was requested for the residents and Total Restoration was called to the scene for a boardup. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Fire Marshal's Office. A special thanks to Collegeville, Jefferson and Norristown Fire Departments for their response and assistance.
