Like many fire departments across the nation, Lower Providence Fire Department’s promotion of fire safety in our community includes the distribution of smoke alarms to those in need. (when supplies are available) Recently our stock of smoke alarms ran low, so we reached out and partnered with local stakeholders within the community to help. Wehrung’s of Collegeville and PECO Energy each donated $1000 to us for the purpose of re-stocking our supply of smoke alarms & batteries. On behalf of the Lower Providence Fire Department and all our residents, thank you for your generosity and interest in supporting this valuable fire safety initiative. “Smoke Alarms Save Lives” It’s a fact, statistics show that the risk of fatalities in home fires are much greater without working smoke alarms. In dwelling units (homes) smoke alarms are required to be installed on every floor of the home, in the (hallway) outside of the bedrooms, and in every bedroom. • Smoke alarms were present in three-quarters (74%) of the reported home fires from 2018 to 2022. Residents of Lower Providence Township who are in need of smoke alarms may complete a request form at https://www.lpfire.com/apps/public/database/formAdd.cfm?Form_ID=3 or call 610-539-5408 and leave a message for the Fire Chief. |
