| What a day at Station 53!
Last Thursday, Lower Providence Fire Department hosted a firefighter skills workshop for the Protective Services students from North Montco Technical Career Center. These high school students got real, hands-on time with the basics of our profession: tying knots, throwing and climbing ladders, vehicle rescue and extrication, and more. They showed up ready to work, asked great questions, and gave it everything they had.
Days like this are how we build the next generation of firefighters and first responders. Many of us got our start because someone took the time to open the bay doors and show us the job. That's what yesterday was about.
None of it happens without a lot of help. A sincere thank you to the firefighters who gave their time to teach and mentor these students:

And a special thank you to Jackie Rittenhouse for keeping everyone well fed. Nobody went home hungry!
This was a true team effort, and it's a great example of what our regional fire service can do when we work together.
To the NMTCC students: thank you for your energy and your willingness to learn. If this is the path you choose, there's a place for you in the fire service, and our doors are always open.
